Chrysler Super Bowl Commercial

I usually dislike commercials with agendas other than selling goods, especially political ones. I didn't like the bailout packages to Chrysler and GM back then, and I don't like the huge budget deficits Obama is running every year.

This ad still gave me goose bumps, and I'm not even American. With the score 9-10 Patriots into the halftime, there was no better stage to have this commercial delivered.

It's halftime in America, narrated by Clint Eastwood:

Barack Obama should pay for this. In fact, I thought I would hear "I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message" at the end of this video clip.

I forgot to bring up the funny thing here earlier. Mr. Eastwood, after all, is a rare Republican icon in Hollywood. Is he endorsing Obama or at least Obama's Motown bailouts?  We'll see.

[後記] Clint Eastwood 說這個廣告沒有政治目的,不是替任何政客背書

The irony of this ad is that Chrysler is no longer an American-owned company, but an Italian one with a Canadian CEO! And the only American car company that didn't take the bailout money in 2008 didn't even bother advertising during this Superbowl....our tax money at work, AGAIN!

BTW, Madonna totally sucked...the halftime show was probably the worst in recent history. A friend's kids asked if Madonna was Lady Gaga's mom....more like her grandma:)

I can't believe I get to see Madonna's name appear in this blog in my lifetime... The kid's question is epic!

I thought Madonna was doing ok during the halftime show when I watched it live.

After watching the game the second time (I will watch the game over and over like I did four years ago), I realized I cut her too much slack. When she climbed high, I was afraid she would fall. When she kicked her legs high, I was afraid she'd pull her hamstring. She certainly showed her age. I'll give her lip sync a break because she did it since long ago, but that does not mean it should be praised or encouraged.

If she was in the show 20, or 15 years ago, that would be phenomenal. I hope the NFL gets Lady Gaga in time. Don't wait until she's 53. The Super Bowl will be hosted in New York City two years from now, Gaga is a natural choice.

What I don't understand is that there are so many other good artists out there today other than Madonna. Why her? Feels like a cross promotion deal was in play.

I was never a big fan of Madonna so I am probably biased here. However, I do give her a lot of credits for being out there at 53. I wish I could look that good when I am 53.
